»I had a dream, but I wasn’t asleep« is a film about the word »home«. In times of crisis we often ask ourselves: what is »home«? What emotions and feelings does this word evoke? What does it have to do with our dreams? Do we need a physical place to feel at home?

We show the blurred boundaries between dream and reality. The film is based on a dream Dasha Brian had in August this year (two years after the start of the revolution in Belarus and a year and a half after her forced emigration to Poland). The visual embodiment is an immersion in the reality and unreality of the fears we feel when we think of home, when we imagine a room whose door was once closed and our key no longer fits.
